Drew's Words of Wisdom...

I am a big fan of Tim Ferriss. I like his writing style and his humor. In his book, Tools of Titans, he uses famous quotes to start and end chapters. I came across two I wanted to share.

WOW! talk about hitting the nail on the head with what most of us go through. That feeling of dread before a big speech. The tingles in your stomach when "Fran" is announced at the whiteboard. You start to worry about all the things that COULD happen. You get so wound up with WHAT IFs that you lose sight of the only CONTROL you have, the process. Instead of being fearful of an obstacle, understand it is part of the process. You have done the prep work. You get to control the steps to success. Instead of trying to find a way around the obstacle, know that the obstacle IS THE WAY.

#RTLO Community Kickball Tournament - Saturday August 5th, 5pm, $5

Y'all asked us to revisit last year's kick ball festivities. (Check out pics here)

So here you go - with one little spin. This time we're kick'n for a cause. There will be three teams - Early Morning classes, Mid-day classes, and Evening classes will make up 3 adult teams. Each team will get to play the other two and the team with the best record wins. There will be a kids game as well, maybe a food truck, and tons of fun. All the proceeds go to Lindsey's Place Camp, a local non-profit started by the Hart family.

Save the Date! Rise of the South Competition is coming this Sept. to Crossfit Boro. This is a fun weekend, individuals on Sat, teams of 2 on Sun. If you're not competing please consider bringing that Hyperformance Spirit.

TRAINING

WOD Preview...

  • Monday we are going over snatch technique and working up to some heavy weights.

  • Tuesday we have a very high skill metcon that feels like the Open with wall balls, double unders, and muscle ups. Regardless of skill level today is a good day make progress.

  • Wednesday is a very fun chipper. Deadlifts, TTB, push-ups and row cals are on the menu.

  • Thursday is a classic. Running and squatting. We are looking to tire the legs out to see how efficiently you run.

  • Friday We celebrate Bastille Day with an AMRAP. Pull ups, KB swings, and sit-ups mark the bulk with a Coach Called twist at any moment during the WOD.

  • Saturday we take a break from the strongman stuff and get a chance to do 2 mini WODs. First is push press and wall balls. The second is db snatch and rowing. Both will spice up your life for the weekend.

WOD Books are available at the front desk for $25 for you paper and pen people. Tracking your progress is important whether you do it digitally or on a paper, make sure you are tracking!

Saturday Mastery Class (name open for suggestions:)

We need your help! The 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month at 11am is a fun and educational class that is part of our intern/apprentice training. The class is coached by one of our apprenticing or new coaches under the guidance of Drew or Caleigh. This allows them to practice and refine their coaching and group management skills. The format will be slightly different from a regular class, with times to stop as we give feedback to the coaches-in-training. These discussions are useful to everyone. All athletes are invited, and new athletes are especially encouraged to be part of the process of developing our newer coaches. Members only, however this class will not count as a class towards 2 or 3 times per week membership.
