Just a reminder - everyone doing the Open workouts must register for Saturday Showdown. You DO NOT need to be registered for the actual Crossfit Open to participate in Saturday Showdown, but if you would like to participate in the worldwide leaderboard then register there as well and we we will be happy to validate your score. Everyone DOES have to be registered for the HPA Saturday Showdown to participate in the Open at HPA. The T-shirt deadline for registration is Friday February 9th.

Since so many of our athletes are committed to eating well and staying dry through the Opens we're hosting a Superbowl party just for you. Initially this was for those doing the Whole Life Challenge, but we want to invite our entire HPA family. Join us on Sunday Feb 4th at the Mercer House at Grove Point Plantation to watch the game together. It's potlock style so bring a WLC-compliant dish to share (lifestyle or performance level). HPA will provide non-alcoholic beverages. Bring the family. If you'd like to explore the plantation and get to hear about the history of the house come as early as 4:30. Rate Update (correction)

Rate Change For 5 Class Packs - currently athletes with a 2 or 3x per week membership may may purchase extra classes at $50 for 5 classes. These are perfect for weeks when you want to attend more classes than your membership allows. As of February 15th this rate will change to $60 for 5 (previously published as $70). Athletes are welcome to purchase multiple class packs at the $50 rate until Feb 15th.

TRAINING

We have some great training planned this week!

  • Monday we have some skill work of getting the bar overhead followed by an amazing partner amrap with push press, deadlifts, and boxjumps.

  • Tuesday you get an opportunity to work on HSPU before the WOD. We have been loving this TEAMom format the last 4 weeks. Today is the last one for a while. Row sprint, hspu, shuttle runs, and pull-ups. The row and run are the fitness. The gymnastics are meant to build capacity proficiency.

  • Wednesday get get heavy snatches. After that a super fun metcon of wall balls, light hang power snatch, and sit-ups.

  • Thursday is our big intensity day. Embrace a long warm-up into a descending rep couplet of burpees and TTB.

  • Friday is a 3RM Thruster from the rack, then a re-do of 17.5. Double unders and thrusters.

  • Saturday is First Saturday Friend fest. 15 min AMRAP of running, deadlifts, ring rows, and bear crawls.

Need to hone a skill or two before the Open?? Remember the coaching team is here for private coaching as well. This may be the best hour of your whole week! Ask your coach for more details.
