A few things to know for each week:

  • Heat sign up will start on Friday at noon.

  • You can reserve a heat time in advance by either calling the gym (912-335-3615) or writing your name in person (please no email).

  • All heats except the final fun will be reserved for those who have officially registered for the crossfit games via games.crossfit.com ($20, not the CFHP website or facebook)

  • The final heat (or two if there are a lot of people) is a "fun heat" and will be for everyone that wants to do the workout but isn't submitting a score for verification. It will not be judged. The fun heats are for CFHP members only.

  • This is not a coached class, you will warm up on your own. You are expected to have watched the announcement video with movement standards. Guests are welcome to attend FNL as spectators, but will not be allowed to workout with you unless they are registered for the opens.

  • Participating in Friday Night Lights does not count as a class for those of you with 2 or 3 x per week memberships (woohoo bonus workout!).

  • All participants are expected to stay after your workout to help judge another heat.

  • We will cap it off with weekly awards, make sure to stick around!

Each week will have a theme! Make sure to continue to follow the facebook page for the theme announcement later this week.

Barbell Basics Skill Clinic

Thursday 2/26 5:30 pm (note time change) - Barbell Basics an intro the barbell movements all in one class so you can learn what is what and the common elements for these movements. If you are still wondering the difference between a push press and a push jerk, or when to use a wide grip, or where to put your feet on what...this is the perfect skill session for you. This will be an hour and a half.

Georgia Spring Powerlifting Meet will be taking place this Saturday February 28th. There will be no classes at the gym that day. This is a fun event to come watch. It sold out in less than a day! Volunteers are needed! Sign up here:

ALSO in February our own house chiropractor Karen Voss will be giving away 14 free consultations and x-rays to 14 NEW patients in exchange for canned goods to be donated to Second Harvest Food Bank. To schedule an appointment call Skidaway Chiropractic at 356-5886.

Programming

Welcome to Open week 1! We will continue to focus on rep schemes and movements that resemble open-style workouts. The goal for these workouts this week is to keep moving as quickly and efficiently as possible with little time between transitions. MOD are basic movements and will give you a change to practice "touch and go" oly lifts and build confidence with push press and front squats. Friday will be a longer partner wod! Saturday should be a rest day for everyone doing the open on Sunday. The park workout will be more recovery / aerobic based.

Keep up the great training!
