Labor Day is next Monday September 5th. There is ONE CLASS AT 9AM. HPA will then be closed the rest of the day.

COMMUNITY

First Saturday Friend Fest is taking place THIS Saturday at 9am. Bring a friend (or two) to workout with you. Saturday’s workout will fast, furious, and fun and a great start to the 3 day weekend.

hyperLINK interest meeting is THIS Thursday September 1st at 6pm. Hyperformance Athletics is currently in search of members who would like to contribute to the ongoing efforts of creating positive forward momentum. More specifically, to becoming the LINK between our gym, its members, and the community. Want to know more? Join us Thursday, September 1st at 7:00 pm for an informative meeting on this new and exciting opportunity! hyperLINK is coming! Contact Kelly Hayes, social coordinator, for more information.

HERO MONTH This September we are celebrating all our heroes! Each Friday we invite any active military, fire, or LEO to join us for a free hero workout. Class times are limited to 7:30am, 4:30pm, and 7:00pm. Flyers are available at the gym, please take one if you have access to places to hang one.

*NEW CLASSES* Beginning September 6th we will be introducing a Middle School class and a High School Class to help meet the need for better training of these ages groups in our community. The needs of these athletes are broad, general fitness and proper strength technique within a community of their peers. Current athletes in this age group that already attend all levels classes may continue to do so. New athletes in this age group will not be admitted into regular classes unless otherwise noted or by invitation.

Middle School classes will be held Tuesdays and Fridays from 3:30 - 4:20 pm.

High School classes will be held Mondays and Thursdays from 3:30 - 4:20 pm.

Elementary age kids classes will continue to meet on Wednesdays at 4pm and Saturdays at 10:15 am.

3rd ANNUAL GOBBLE GAMES presented by Hyperformance Athletics will be taking place on Friday evening November 11th (veteran’s day) and Saturday November 12th. This 4 person team event is appropriate for ALL Levels regardless of competition experience. We will also feature a new venue - the Chatham County Aquatic Center.

We are currently looking for Sponsors. All sponsorships must be finalized by September 30th. See Avery Bragg for sponsorship info.

TRAINING

This will be an awesome training week. Partner workouts bookend the week. Tuesday is perhaps one of the most fun Crossfit workouts ever. Friday we start our Hero week series. “Donny” will be on the menu which consists of deadlifts and burpees. As far as strength movements go, we will hit several 5RMs this week. These are perhaps the most challenging RM. Make sure you are warmed up and really try to do your best. These are considered heavy 5s, not necessarily PR attempts. If a PR happens, then congrats. We will also go over Crossover symmetry activation protocol on Wednesday. We will take several weeks to introduce this, so that you may perform activation BEFORE class starts.

Reminder to athletes - all members have 2 semi-annual personal training sessions with their coach included in their membership. One to be used during the first half of the year, and the other in the second half of the year. This is a great chance to check-in, get a check-up on your nutrition, training, goals, and revise your pre-class/post-class homework assignments. We’d like to see athletes get in their SA PT session BEFORE Thanksgiving.

GET OUT of Your Comfort Zone - What are you training for? We all have different reasons, and we realize that not everyone has a desire to compete. That said, we HIGHLY recommend for all athletes to get out of their comfort zones every now and then, and nothing does that better than a little friendly competition. This fall there are many opportunities to make that happen.

  • RISE OF THE SOUTH - team and individual spots are still available. There will be LOTS of HPA athletes and coaches around.

  • Bombs and Barbells @ Down Home Crossfit Sept. 17th. This is sold out, but feel free to go watch and cheer for a few HPA teams.

  • Festivus Team Games @ Crossfit Salt in Brunswick October 15th. This is a perfect opportunity for 1st time competitors.

  • Gobble Games @ HPA November 11th and 12th (Limited spots available, registration opens Sept. 13th)
