Drew's Words of Wisdom...

I read a really good book recently, "Chop Wood, Carry Water" . It was about falling in love with the PROCESS not necessarily the outcome. I will try my best to paraphrase a very POTENT story from the first part of the book.

A master architect was known all over the world for using the best techniques, getting the best materials and obsessing over perfecting EVERY detail the houses he built. He had a marvelous career. His eye for detail and demanding only the finest materials made his houses worth a lot. As the sun was setting on his working life, his boss asked him to make one more house. He didn't want to. The architect was tired and refused. After some goading, the architect reluctantly started the job. His heart wasn't in it. He chose sub-standard materials, he didn't obsess over every detail. He cut corners in order to be finished. Not his best work by far. He didn't even want to put his name on it, but alas he was done. Once finished the architect walked into his boss's office. There was a small box sitting on the table. The box was opened as a gift. Inside were the keys to the house that was just built. Immediately the architect's heart sank.

You are always building your own house. What you do, what you eat, what you say, what you think are all parts of YOUR house. Strive for excellence in EVERYTHING you do, and you will not have a wasted life. Obsess about the details of your own life. You are always building your own house.



BEACH WOD - The first of the season! April 29th at 10am. Come early to find parking and get to our spot. Stay afterwards to just hang out the beach with cool people. There will also be a kids class on the beach. No 9am or 11am class this day.

Squad Savannah Bring A Friend Workout - April 29th 10am. Have a friend that talks about getting back in shape and not sure where to start? Or maybe has tried numerous times? The Squad Savannah provides both the tools and encouragement to make that happen. The Bring A Friend workout allows for someone to experience the get a taste of the camp in a fun, supportive atmosphere.


Race, Cheer, or Volunteer - Hyperformance Athletics and athlete Bill Baehner will cooking up a good time at the Jason Dahlke Adventure Race on May 13th. Literally - Bill is smoking BBQ and we're helping to serve it up! We need volunteers that can help prep and assist with food distribution from noon - until..... If you are interested in helping to volunteer please contact Kelly Hayes. If you'd like to participate in the races - The 1/2 race itself is run/bike and the full race is run/bike/kayak with navigation. Teams of two can register up until the day of the event but need to provide equipment (rentals can be set up in advance). The event is also very family friendly, feel free to come support and eat! Thank you to everyone who supported the past weekend. All the classes had a great time with FGB and Colby's closer to his goal of funding his trip to Belaruse to represent the USA for the World Muy Thai Championship. The deadline for t-shirts has now passed but if you'd like to show support for Colby you can still make a contribution at


W have LOTS of opportunity for improvement this week. On Monday we have a classic crossfit benchmark WOD. We use these benchmarks to assess where we have been, where we are, and where we are going. Make sure to record your score in ZenPlanner (or use the app!). Tuesday is a little heavier couplet of fun. Wednesday is a partner metcon with some different cardio elements thrown in on purpose. Thursday or THORSday is a pair of really fun couplets. "A couple of couplets" if you will. Friday is heavy squat cleans with a high skill gymnastic movement. Saturday is the beach WOD.

CLASS SCHEDULE CHANGE! Beginning Saturday April 8th

  • NEW Saturday 7:30am All Levels Class. It's getting warmer and we know that many of you would like to get in and out on Saturdays. Saturdays are a great day to mix it up with a different coach, different faces, and movements you don't always get to see during the week.

  • Saturday 11:00 am class is now a Level 1 class (using our new level system). This class will be a mix of reviewing the basics, more in-depth skill work, and other fun segments.

Semi-Annual Check-ins - This is also a great time of year to get up with your Primary Coach for a Semi-Annual Check-in. The check in is 30-45 minutes of face to face time to review goals, strategies, homework assignments, nutrition, or whatever you need. A few of you may have been contacted about changing your primary coach to one that you will see more frequently. If you are not sure who your primary coach is please let us know.

Middle/ High School- Mon, Wed, Fri @10 am
