Drew's Words of Wisdom...
I went to the Pivot Conference this weekend and was struck by several of the speakers. I heard a line that made we write it down and say it aloud to myself over and over again. "I'm not WHO I think I am, but WHAT I think, I am." Read it again taking special breaks in the commas. Building your personal positive pyramid takes practice. Your thoughts and words lead to actions. Know this and embrace it. You might think of yourself as a confident person, but if your thoughts and words say otherwise we have a split in your armor. Fix the cracks by surrounding yourself with words and phrases that accentuate the positive moreover the negative. What you THINK truly starts to form WHO you are.
First Saturday Friend Fest - this weekend is Double Trouble! Not just because you've got a sweat buddy, but also we've expanded First Saturday Friend Fest to two times: 9am AND 11am. Because the 9am has been so big the last couple of months, we respectfully ask that if time doesn't matter to you and your friend, please come at 11am to allow space for folks who can only come at 9am. The 7:30 am class is a regular, members-only class.
Next Small Group Fundamentals - begins on Tuesday September 5th. This class is perfect for new athletes that have been working out on their own but are new to Crossfit Hyperformance. We'll cover nutrition, culture, and movements.
Rise of the South Competition is coming September 2nd and 3rd to Crossfit Boro in Statesboro. This is a fun weekend with individuals competing on Saturday and teams of 2 on competing on Sun. If you're not competing please consider bringing that Hyperformance Spirit and cheering on your peers and coaches.
Bragging Rights Tailgate and Competition - Sept. 30th. Back for the 2nd year, coaches and owners from the all around the Low Country come together to throw down. Come out to Camp Villa Marie to bet on your coaches, cheer them on, and represent Hyperformance.
In case you missed last week's TACOs DrewsDay, it is on the Hyperformance Facebook page:
On to this week
We are back at heavy 5s this week! You should feel stronger than you did the first week of august. we will do 4 sets of 5 with the last one ideally being heavier. The order of lifts is back squat, deadlift, strict press, off, front squat.
WODs for the week look AMAZING. Monday is a fast fun run with max sets of HSPU. Shoulder burn for sure.
Tuesday is one of the all time Crossfittyest workouts... Jackie. Row, thrusters, and pull-ups. So much fun to be had.
Wednesday is a fun Every minute format with TTB, HR push-ups and kb swings.
Thursday is our sprint feel for the week. SDHP, box jumps, and situps highlight this fast paced WOD. Friday is our first named Hero WOD for September... SLADE. This is a new hero. It has cleans, push press, burpees, and running. Come in your red shirt and honor this incredible man. Saturday is Bring a friend day. A little bit more running and Cindy (pullups, push ups and squats) is sure to put a smile on your face.
Schedule Change - Remember there is no longer a 7pm class on Fridays.
Hyperformance Nutrition Challenge -
Need some extra 1-on-1? Private coaching is available for all of our athletes. Maybe it's to clean up snatch or clean up your diet. Your coach is available for extra 1-on-1 time by appointments. $40 per 30 minute session, $60 per hour session.
Saturday Mastery Class (name open for suggestions:) - THIS WEEKEND!!!!
Every 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month at 11am there will be a fun and educational class that is part of our intern/apprentice training. The class is coached by one of our apprenticing or new coaches under the guidance of Drew or Caleigh. This allows them to practice and refine their coaching and group management skills. The format will be slightly different from a regular class, with times to stop as we give feedback to the coaches-in-training. These discussions are useful to everyone. All athletes are invited, and new athletes are especially encouraged to be part of the process of developing our newer coaches. Members only, however this class will not count as a class towards 2 or 3 times per week membership.
