Drew's Words of Wisdom...
What comes to mind when you read that word? Do you see a vision of "The Mountain", Achilles, Samson, or Arnold? I believe each person is born some inherent strengths and we have a predisposition to build up a life skills that come naturally. The hard part as a young person is finding out what that strength is. Discovering your strengths can be a painstaking process of trial and error. Once you find it however, you can really blossom. It has taken me 37 years to find, cultivate, and start using my strengths. Some are physical, but most are not.
But what happens when a strength is taken from you? What do you do?
When a strength gets taken, it is like a leg of a table being knocked out. Life feels wobbly at best. You can either cower in the corner hoping that the strength comes back or you can get up and take the time to find another strength or HONE a current one. When a strength gets taken, you MUST exhaust all options and try your hardest to find or develop a replacement. Be okay with the sudden replacement because it is an amazing gift to improve.

First FRIDAY Friend Fest
Since the gym will be rock'n with Showdown on Saturday we've moved First Saturday Friend Fest to Friday March 2st. It's a great way to get co-workers out of the office on Friday! ALL Classes are open for friends, please let them know they need to arrive at least 10 minutes early to fill out a waiver and meet the coach!

SATURDAY SHOWDOWN -
Week 1 was amazing! Thank you to the athletes that stayed through the very end for our awards to help take down (it is MUCH appreciated).
CryoRecovery 5 Pack Give Away - athletes can enter to win a 5 session give away from CryoRecovery. One session purchase is required. Receive a treatment before the last day of the Open to be entered into the drawing.
Parents - Please remember that if you choose to bring your kids to this event you MUST designate an ADULT to be responsible for them while you are on the floor - warming up, working out, or judging. Just sending them in the office will not suffice.
Please also remember that if you know you will not be able to make Saturday to set up a time in advance with a coach. Plan to arrive 20-30 minutes to warm-up on your own before that time.
As we rock through the decades, the theme for Week 2 is 80s! We love to see everyone dressed up in their most fun workout gear (all those jazzercise leos are coming back, well at least to HPA).
The workout will be announced LIVE at Games.Crossfit.com each Thursday night at 8pm (of course, Drew will be watching the announcement here at the box). If you want to submit a score to the worldwide leaderboard make sure you additionally register for the Opens on the Games page and mark Crossfit Hyperformance as your team. Drew will validate scores on Sunday and Tuesday morning. If you submit a score and don't see it right away please don't panic, it must be validated first. As long as it's submitted before Monday at 8pm you are okay.
Heat sign up will happen again on Friday at noon via Sign-up Genius. The link will be emailed to everyone registered BEFORE being put up on facebook.

Whole Life Challenge FINALE - This Saturday at 2pm
We'll re-measure and re-test the workout as well give out awards and celebrate your success! Plan to be there! Friends and family are welcome.
If you aren't able to make it Saturday, please see Jen to set up an alternate time to do the workout and be remeasured. If you're in the Momentum Builder and would like to re-test your percent body fat, set up a time this week or next with the SAME coach that measured you before. It's best to have the same person measure and to measure before you workout.

Is happening at Crossfit Boro on April 14th. We already have a handful of athletes registered. The divisions are ages 40-47 and 47+, both Rx and Scaled. We'd love to see ALL our athletes participate or be there showing support. There will only be one class at 7:30 that day.
Open Week 2 is upon us. Here's what is on tap:
Monday- Snatch technique work, then a version of "Helen" with SDHP and Burpees. 18.1 SCORES ARE DUE BY 8PM
Tuesday- Front squats after the WOD (to work when fatigued) and a fairly nasty couplet of power cleans/ AAB.
Wednesday- OHS gets dialed in with some technique work, then a super fun WOD of decreasing rep power snatch and Rounds of Cindy (5 pull-ups, 10 push-ups, and 15 air squats.
Thursday- We get some shoulder work in with an EMOM of Rowing, HSPU and Push Press. 18.2 gets released tonight at 8pm.
Friday- is FIRST FRIDAY FRIEND FEST. Bring a friend for a simple (read NOT EASY) partner workout.
Saturday- 18.2 Showdown. 'Nough Said.
