Athlete Storage update - over the coming weeks we are transitioning from storing items on the gym floor to storing them in the bathrooms to make room for more training space.  PLEASE only bring what is truly needed (keys and a water bottle) into the gym.  There will be more shelves and hooks to hang bags coming soon in both bathrooms.  Make sure belongings are locked out of sight in your car.  Thank you for help.  

 

 

Drew's Weekly Words of Wisdom

 

 

Music is powerful.  Music moves my soul.  I watched Endgame recently and listened to the opening song by Traffic.  This song was written YEARS ago but very eloquently tells the fate of IronMan (Mr Fantasy)

 

Dear Mr. Fantasy play us a tune
Something to make us all happy
Do anything, take us out of this gloom
Sing a song, play guitar, make it snappy

You are the one who can make us all laugh
But doing that you break out in tears
Please don't be sad if it was a straight mind you had
We wouldn't have known you all these years

 

The reason I write this is listening to the song now (i downloaded it immediately after watching the movie) brings an emotional response out of me.  It reminds me of the old Bards in the renaissance that would sing of knight's chivalry.  If you could write a song about your life what would it say?  Could you even write one?  Have you done enough to warrant a song that brings forth an emotional response in another?  Write a new song today.

TRAINING

Can't find the workouts?  

You can find them via the zenplanner client app AND track your results there too!  It looks like a white Z inside a red circle on your favorite place to download apps. 

 

 

This Week

  

All lifts this week will be done off of feel at a tempo of 32X1.  The 2 sec pause in the bottom will get a little spicy.

  • Monday- super fun chipper with some repeat movements from last week.  This is meant to build in intensity until the burpees at the end.

  • Tuesday- We are going to run OHS and TTB in a switcheroo style rep scheme.

  • Wednesday- Bulletproof day.  Gang this day is important.  We believe movement is life.  We also believe in learning to move pain free daily.

  • Thursday- We will practice the skill of muscle-ups.  After we will do a fun triplet of double unders, double kb swing, and high box jumps

  • Friday- we will EMOM style a Hero wod called Holleyman HSPU, Wall ball, and power cleans

  • Saturday- is a long cardio-tastic WOD

  

 

Youth Lifting Camp

 

  

Let Hyperformance Athletics help bridge the gap for your kids from middle school to high school sports.  Hit the ground running next year with a technique camp for lifting weights.  This camp is designed to teach basic weight lifting techniques to rising 7, 8th, and 9th graders. In this camp we will cover lower body lifting techniques for the back squat, front squat, deadlift, lunge, and power cleans. We will cover upper body lifts to include: bench press, shoulder press, push press, and bent over row.

 


June 11th - 13th 10am - 11:15.  Cost is $75 and registration is open to any 7th, 8th, or 9th grader in Savannah.  Register here

Gym Improvement Day - May 25th

Gotta a handy dandy skill?  Or just like to help clean or paint with the coolest peeps in town?  Join us for our annual gym improvement day on Saturday May 25th from 11 - 2 ish.  Lunch provided.  We'll be painting, building, cleaning, planting, and more.  Contact Tracy@teamhpa.com so we can get a head count for lunch. 

 

Memorial Day Murph

 

Memorial Day Murph is a gym-wide sweat fest to honor those who have given all for our freedom.  All athletes are encouraged to participate on Monday May 27th.  The workout is "Murph" which can be done either solo or in teams.  Scaling options are presented, so every athlete can participate.  We encourage athletes to attend classes on Saturdays leading up to Murph as this will prepare your body for the high volume work. 

 

There will be two class options on that day: 7:00 and 9:00 am.  Come prepared to sweat (be well hydrated) and to encourage or HPA fam.   Please Note - This Workout is for HPA members-only.

HPA NIGHT OUT At the Savannah Bananas Home Run Derby!

 

Hang out with fellow athletes on evening of Sunday, July 7th.  HPA has 50 reserved tickets (we can get more if those sell out).  Tickets must be paid in advance, cash only, and are $18 each.  They include all you can eat AND fast passes through the lines.   To claim one for you and any immediate family member, pay at the front desk.   Tickets will be handed out the week of the game.
